essay one. Outlook on reading.

Well I can't say my reading habits are anything habitual, but I do love spending some down time with a good story. I feel since I've started living on my own that my reading habits have declined from up to my usual expectations. You have all the responsibilities of paying bills, doing well in school, and maintang a social life. With all that comes work, work, and more... work. Therefore less time and no reading. I do wish life wasn't so stressful as an independent college student. I feel I would most definitley increase my reading habits.

When I do read it usually when i'm hanging out by the pool. That's about the only "down" time I get. I love to read several different magazines including: Cosmopolitan, Vouge, and Rolling Stone Magazine. They all carry topics about fashion trends, music, and advice coloums. These sorts of things are easy to read over a book because it's short and to the point. When I used to read books I loved fantasy books with mythical creatures. Popular when I was in high school was the Harry Potter series and the twilight series. I also love reading stories that have romance. One kind of reading I am very very familiar with is text books. I can't stand text books personally. I feel you can't learn certain things with out doing them hands on. Text books are basically, in my opinion, the worst thing to happen to the reading industry. They are boring, uninteresting, and basically useless.

I feel that reading is a great way to relax and escape from reality. I think it helps people become more creative with new ideas about writing. You can expand your vocabulary and imagination. It is almost like you escape to another world, but without even leaving your chair. We all need an escape from the stressful world we live in sometimes. So in my overall opinion, yes, reading is great for the mind, body and soul.

I feel others have much better reading habits that myself. My reading habits are not that well but it is something I wish to improve on. I don't even find time to read books I am interested in reading. Thats a major signal that my reading habits have decreased to nothing. I usually only read material that i'm required to read which leads to me being uninterested. If I could ask any other college student how they find the time or energy to find that "down" time or relaxation time, I would totally take their advice.

One of my all time favorite authors is Nicholas Sparks. He has an amazing talent with writing romance novels. A few of my favorite books include: A Walk To Remember, The Notebook, The Lucky One, and The Last Song. All of these books became hit movies. I love the books because its every girls fantasy to have "Mister Prince Charming." I can read his books in one day without stopping. He would for sure be the first author I chased after if I found time to read more novels.
